A 15-year-old boy in India ended his life after he was beaten up and suspended from school for protesting against corporal punishment.

The teenager reportedly hanged himself Saturday at his residence in Gorakhpur district in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. On Friday, the victim had protested against a teacher for thrashing his younger brother, who studied in the same school. After this, the victim was taken to the principal's office, where he was beaten brutally.

A day later, the school's manager told the boy's family he was being suspended because of his behavior. The victim was distressed following the suspension, due to which he decided to kill himself by hanging from a ceiling fan at his house, Times Now reported. The victim was not identified by the police.

A suicide note was allegedly found from the scene, the police said. The victim's father filed a complaint against the grade teacher, school manager and principal. The suspects were booked under Indian Penal Code Section 306 for abetting the student’s suicide. On Sunday, the school manager was arrested, and efforts were on to take the principal and class teacher into custody, Amarujala reported [Google Translate].

Last month, a private school teacher was arrested for allegedly beating a 13-year-old boy to death in the state of Rajasthan. The teacher initially told the child's father the boy was just "acting dead." The accused, identified as Manoj Kumar, was arrested. The victim, identified as Ganesh Sharma, had told his father earlier the teacher was "beating him for no reason." On the day of the incident, the boy's father received a call from the teacher saying the teenager has fallen unconscious at school. The teacher allegedly told the boy's father that he had not done his homework, following which he had beat him.

In another incident in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, a government teacher was caught on camera kicking and beating a class 12 student mercilessly. The video went viral on social media platforms, causing outrage among people over the heinous act. In the video, the teacher can be seen beating the boy with a stick and kicking brutally as other students of the class watched, Zee News reported.
