A 19-year-old man was arrested after the body of an 18-year-old woman was found in bushland in Australia.

According to authorities, the victim and the accused were in an "intimate" relationship that had recently ended. The victim allegedly met the ex-boyfriend at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at a car park in Strathpine, a suburb in the Moreton Bay region of Queensland, according to Herald Sun.

When she did not return home after meeting the boy, the woman's family raised the alarm and informed the police at around 7 p.m.

"Her vehicle was subsequently located in the car park on Bells Pocket Rd," Police official Ben Fadian told reporters, as reported by the outlet.

The 19-year-old man was located around 8 p.m. at a service station about an hour away from Strathpine. However, the slain victim was not with him at the time, officials noted.

The victim's body was eventually found in bushland at around 3 a.m. Sunday.

"They had been in a relationship that had recently ended," Fadian said, as quoted by ABC Australia. "The relationship could be described as an intimate relationship. The length of it is still under investigation."

A number of forensic and electronic items were taken as evidence as part of the investigation. Detectives said a 2016 white Ford Mustang and a 2012 blue Mazda were seized after the woman's body was found. Officials also declared the car park where the two met and the service station from where the boy was taken into custody as crime scenes, along with the bushland area where the woman's body was found.

Fadian further informed no domestic violence orders involving the accused or the victim were in place. However, the victim's friends and family were interviewed regarding any incident of violence between the former couple, 7NEWS reported.

"There were no domestic violence orders in place. And there was no history of either party being in contact with police about anything of that nature," he added.

"They are loving parents and they were concerned for their daughter," Fadian said, speaking about the bereaved family. "It's a tragic event, the young lady is 18 years of age and she had her life ahead of her. This is a good, young lady, or young person, and this has happened to her."

Meanwhile, the man was charged with murder and misconduct of, or moving, a corpse.
