  • A company recalls over 20,000 pounds of its fully cooked meatball and pattie products
  • The products reportedly "co-mingled" with ingredients that contained allergens
  • Below is the list of states where the recalled products were distributed

Washington-based King's Command Foods is recalling 20,025 pounds of meatballs and patties as they may contain allergens. The affected products were distributed to 10 states.

According to the recall notice posted at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food safety and Inspection Service's (FSIS) website, the company learned about the problem when it discovered that ingredients that contained allergens "co-mingled" with the recalled products. The latter don't typically contain the allergens and don't have them declared on the label.

As such, there is a chance that someone who may have an allergy or sensitivity to the allergens, in this case egg, milk and/or wheat, may eat the product not realizing that it contains them. This could then lead to a potentially serious allergic reaction.

Eggs, milk and wheat are particularly common allergens. These three are among the eight types of food that comprise 90% of all reactions, the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI) said. And according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), there are about 32 million people in the U.S. who have food allergies.

As for the current recall, it affects the "3.75 oz RIB SHAPED PORK PATTIES WITH BBQ SAUCE," "3.0 oz RIB SHAPED PORK PATTIES WITH BBQ SAUCE," "0.50oz SWEDISH MEATBALLS," "0.50oz SWEDISH MEATBALLS WITH SAUCE," "0.5 OZ CHICKEN AND BEEF MEATBALLS," "0.50 oz MEATBALLS," ".5 oz HOMESTYLE MEATBALLS," and ".5 OZ ITALIAN STYLE MEATBALLS."

Specific codes, "use by" dates and the allergens that may be in them are available at the FSIS recall notice. The products were produced on Jan. 8, Jan. 15 and March 3 this year, and have the establishment number EST. M1515A in the USDA mark of inspection.

Labels of the affected products can be seen here.

The now-recalled products were distributed in 10 states -- California, Idaho, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and Washington .

So far, there have been "no confirmed reports" of anyone having an adverse reaction related to the product. Still, the FSIS is advising those who may have the recalled products to not consume them and instead throw them away or bring them back to where they were bought.
