Five bodies were found in a Maury County home, off Carters Creek Pike, Tennessee, on Monday night.

According to Maury County District Attorney Brent Cooper, it appeared to be a murder-suicide involving four children and their mother. Police said an older sibling found the dead bodies at home and informed them.

County Sheriff Bucky Rowland too confirmed the incident saying three girls and a boy were found dead along with their mother inside the home Monday. The children were approximately seven to 16 years of age and were all homeschooled. The mother died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Rowland added that the father was not at home when the incident took place and there is no suspect at large.

"I'd ask our community to lift the rest of this family and friends up in prayer,” he said, News Channel 5 reported.

"It’s a beautiful home, and nothing would indicate otherwise except for what has happened here this afternoon. They still have impacts in this community, people care and love them. No matter what a husband and wife, no matter what their struggles may be, you still have children involved. You have a father here that is a victim of this as well,” Rowland added, Tennessean reported.

The Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident. The Maury County Fire Department is also at the scene in order to help restrict access.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with our law enforcement, EMS, and dispatch partners having to deal with this tragedy as well as family and friends of those of the family,” the fire department said in a Facebook post.
