An elderly, Arizona woman was arrested Monday after she struck her boyfriend's head with a hammer for leaving the television on, police said.

Marilyn Ann Kepler, 74, of Bullhead City was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and domestic violence for assaulting her 74-year-old partner whose identity has not been revealed.

Kepler was provoked after her partner left the television on overnight and ruined her sleep, Bullhead City Police said in a statement.

The boyfriend told the medical staff that he woke up to Kepler’s attack with the hammer. He later convinced her to drive him to the hospital but she pulled a gun on him while she drove past the hospital. He managed to wrestle the gun away from her and escaped the car before Kepler drove away.

People driving by took the victim to the nearby hospital where he is being treated for his head injuries, reported news outlet 12News.The hospital alerted the police and Kepler was taken into custody from her residence. Kepler is booked into Mohave County jail in Kingman.

In a similar incident on Jan. 18, a woman in India thrashed a 12-year-old boy after her afternoon nap was disturbed. The 55-year-old woman from Goa in India's southwestern coast, thrashed the boy with a wooden stick while he was riding a bicycle along with his friends, reported local news outlet Times Now. The boy was left with bruise marks on his stomach, head, hands, neck and other parts of the body. The incident came to light when the boy’s father reported it to the police. The police arrested the suspect on charges of child abuse. The photos of the victim went viral on social media and had caused a stir.
