Here are some of the best pumpkin beers to try this autumn.

Harpoon Imperial Pumpkin

A new pumpkin brew to try comes from Harpoon. Half imperial stout, half pumpkin ale, this beer has aromas of dried fruit, chocolate, and baked pumpkin pie. It is a black, full-bodied stout that was brewed with molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg, roasted malts, and the brew of the company’s UFO Pumpkin beer. The beer tastes of chocolate with spice and additional notes of coffee, fig, pumpkin, and gingersnap.

New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin

This pumpkin ale features cinnamon and habanero chili peppers to give you some heat along with that pumpkin flavor. The malts are pale, Munich, and caramel 120, along with nugget hops. ABV is 6.4%.

Allagash Ghoulschip

Jumpstart the fall season with a beer that has a subtle earthiness but is dry and tart. The Ghoulschip is aged in oak barrels for up to three years and is made from local ingredients such as pumpkins, molasses, and raw pumpkin seeds. It is fermented using natural microflora for a taste that has a carmelized malt and mild acidity balance. Overall ABV is 8.2%.

Southern Tier Pumking

Available for a short three months, the Pumking is a medium to light bodied beer that has a moderate bitterness. The brew has an aroma of pumpkin, pie spices, buttery crust, vanilla, and roasted pecans, with flavors of malty sweetness, vanilla, clove, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pice crust. ABV is 8.6%.

Elysian Punkuccino

Coffee lovers rejoice! There is a pumpkin coffee ale just for you with the Pumkuccino that has a short shot of Stumptown coffee toddy along with cinnamon and nutmeg spices. This seasonal beer has a medium and creamy body and is sold in bottles and kegs. ABV is 6%.

Shipyard Brewing Co. Smashed Pumpkin Ale

Gear up for a full-bodied brew with an aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg in this pale ale with wheat and light Munich malts. It has a natural tannin of pumpkin, and a spiciness of Sphair and Hallertau hops that balances the sweetness of the fruit. This beer has an ABV of 9%, and it is best drank at 55° F.

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

This ale was first released in 1995, coming out every year in September. The beer has cinnamon, all-spice, and nutmeg aromas, with flavors of spicy notes of cinnamon, brown sugar, and pumpkin. It is a full-bodied beer that will leave lingering spices and a cinnamon tingle in the mouth. It is suggested paired with turkey, roasted duck, lamb, stuffing, or dessert dumplings. ABV of the beer is 7%.

Two Roads RoadsMary’s Baby Pumpkin Ale

This fall release is aged in rum barrels to provide its complex and deep flavor. You’ll taste notes of pumpkin, spices, vanilla, oak, and touches of rum in this pumpkin ale that has a 6.8% ABV.
