The fiancée of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez denied rumors that he had intimate relationships with other men before his April suicide. Speaking with Dr. Phil McGraw in an interview that aired Tuesday, Shayanna Jenkins disputed recent reports that indicated otherwise.

“I had no indication or any feeling that he was such,” Jenkins, 27, told McGraw in a clip from the interview. “He was very much a man to me. I don't know where this came from. It's embarrassing, in a sense. It's hurtful, regardless if it's true or not. It's just not something that I saw. It's not something that I believe. It's just not him.”

McGraw asked Jenkins if she’d ever had a conversation with the ex-NFL star about the rumors. She told McGraw that they had indeed talked about it after she asked about it, however, she maintains that he answered that he the rumors were false.

In a separate clip, Jenkins claimed she’s never heard of Hernandez’s alleged prison lover Kyle Kennedy. “I’ve never heard of him, honestly. Aaron has never mentioned him,” she told McGraw, adding that rumors of the romance were brought to her attention after his death.

Kennedy was briefly put on suicide watch following news of Hernandez’s death. In a statement released in the days following Hernandez’s suicide, Kennedy released the following statement:

“I miss my friend, Aaron Hernandez. I’d like to send my condolences to his fiancée, his mother and his daughter. I would ask the media to respect the privacy of my family. This is a private matter that doesn’t concern them.”

Jenkins also denied reports from Kennedy’s lawyer about a handwritten suicide note addressed to Kennedy, which Jenkins told McGraw is “non-existent.”

“There’s no letter for Kyle Kennedy. There’s a letter for me,” she said before adding that other letters were written to their daughter, 4-year-old Avielle, and Hernandez’s lawyers.

Hernandez was found dead in his cell April 19 at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts. The 27-year-old was serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd, a conviction that was overturned earlier this month after a Massachusetts legal rule known as “abatement” was invoked. Hernandez committed suicide just days after being acquitted of murdering Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado outside a Boston nightclub in July 2012.
