Adele’s personal fitness coach clapped back at critics obsessing over the singer’s weight loss.

Singer and songwriter Adele amassed both support and negativity when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram to commemorate her 32nd birthday. Followers and critics were quick to comment on the English songstress’ weight instead of acknowledging her special day. And Adele’s former personal trainer, Pete Geracimo, finally spoke out against the needless reactions.

Geracimo, who had been Adele’s longtime fitness coach, defended the singer after witnessing “negative commentary” on her birthday post. The personal trainer took to Instagram to express how “disheartening” and “fat-phobic” the comments circulating against the pop icon were. He highlighted that Adele’s transformation was a work towards getting healthy and was never just about losing weight.

“It's disheartening to read negative commentary and fat-phobic accusations questioning the genuineness of her amazing weight loss," Geracimo wrote on his post, alongside a photo of him and Adele during swimming training. "I could not be prouder or happier for her! This metamorphosis is not for album sales, publicity or to be a role model. She is doing it for herself and for [son] Angelo.”

As Adele’s London-based trainer, Geracimo recalled how he was hired to condition her for the world tour that came with the release of the singer’s third studio album, “25.” The preparation was also to get the songstress into reforming her health post-pregnancy and surgery.

“When 25’ dropped and the tour announced, we had to get ready for a 13 month gruelling schedule," the singer's personal trainer explained. "In that time, she warmed to training and made better food choices. As a result, she lost considerable weight and people took notice. Her body transformation was splashed across every media outlet. The attention it generated was mind-blowing."

The pop songstress’ fitness coach also added that he hoped people would only appreciate that hard work and determination that Adele has put into accomplishing her current health achievement. Geracimo shared that the singer’s will for improvement was all for her benefit as well as her family’s.

"She did not lose the weight to make others feel bad about themselves,” he said. “This personal transformation has nothing to do with me or you. It's about Adele and how she wants to live her life.”

Geracimo also remarked that amid her startling transformation, the British singer is still the same person people “have grown up with and loved.”
