A warrant was issued Monday for the Alabama corrections officer who never returned after claiming she was escorting a prisoner to a court appointment.

Lauderdale County Assistant Director of Corrections Vicki White has been named in a warrant on charges of committing or facilitating an escape after investigators learned she “participated” in the jailbreak of capital murder suspect Casey White.

Although the two share the same last name, authorities revealed they are not related.

“Whether she did that willingly or she was coerced, threatened ... not really sure,” Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said at a news conference.

Officer Vicki White and the inmate went missing Friday after she told colleagues she was taking the prisoner to the courthouse for a “mental health evaluation.” Authorities later learned he was never scheduled for an appointment.

The officer went on to tell co-workers she planned to seek medical attention after taking the inmate to the courthouse because she was feeling unwell. However, law enforcement determined she did not make a medical appointment.

“The employees are just devastated,” Singleton said. “Nobody saw this coming.”

Officer White reportedly had intentions to retire and submitted her paperwork Thursday. The next day she and the inmate went missing.

Vicki White’s 2013 Ford Taurus patrol car was found in a parking lot at a shopping center on Friday morning.

By Monday, Singleton revealed investigators reviewed video footage in the area but had no leads on whether the two got into another vehicle.

“We’re still aggressively pursuing every lead that we get,” Singleton said. “The biggest obstacle we have right now is we still do not have a vehicle description for whatever vehicle they may have transferred into.”

The U.S. Marshals Service is currently offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to their arrest.
