Fans of “The Amazing Race” have been waiting for what seems like forever since the show’s 31st season closed to see Season 32 play out on their TV screens. Now, another change to when the show will debut on CBS will give fans a reason to breathe a sigh of relief instead of dread.

In a press release Tuesday, CBS announced that their planned Fall 2020-2021 lineup was getting a tweak on Wednesday nights, with ‘TAR,” initially slated to air at 9:00 p.m. EDT, now being bumped up to the 8:00 p.m. slot that was supposed to be occupied by “Survivor,” which has held the spot for years. However, while “TAR” is ready to go on a new season, “Survivor” has been unable to film due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced it to be temporarily taken off the schedule.

“Producers for ‘Survivor,’ the Network’s perennial Wednesday 8:00 PM series, are continuing to work with officials in Fiji on the appropriate time to start production on its next edition, with health and safety matters the top priority for everyone involved,” the release states.

The change is a good one fans who have been waiting for this new season, which actually filmed in late 2018, to air. After not getting a spot in the mid-season schedule in the Spring, where it has aired the last few years, the show was initially given a start date for May, before being pushed again to the Fall.

However, while news surrounding Season 32 is positive, fans may be forced to wait even longer for Season 33, which had begun filming earlier this year but was forced to shut down due to the Pandemic. Back in May, CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl revealed that because of the nature of the production for both “Survivor” and “Amazing Race,” those shows would be more difficult to film going forward—and could perpetually delay them for a long while.

“In terms of ‘Survivor’ and ‘The mazing Race,’ we’ll get those into production as soon as we can safely get back into production,” he said at the time. “That’s going to be a little more complicated because we literally have to navigate some international waters.”
