Apple said earlier this year the Amazon Prime Video app was finally coming to the Apple TV later this year, but the much-awaited app is still M.I.A. in the App Store.

Apple announced the addition of the app during its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. Since then, there have been rumors about possible release dates, but they have already passed with no sign of the app’s launch. One of the rumors said the video app would launch on the Apple TV late last month in tandem with Amazon’s debut of Thursday night National Football League games. That obviously didn’t happen.

Now, another possible launch date has surfaced on the Apple TV Subreddit this week [via MacRumors]. A person who claims to work for the online retailer said the Amazon Prime Video app is coming to the Apple TV in late October, which means it could arrive in a few weeks. The unverified source, a user called AmazonVideoEngineer, said the app will launch Oct. 26 at the earliest or could be pushed to November. The person then said in another post that Oct. 26 is “finally the day” the app will release on the Apple TV.

AmazonVideoEngineer wrote on Reddit 12 days ago:

“Wanted to make this throwaway account after yesterday’s debacle. I saw many people get upset so I wanted to issue this warning: do not expect Amazon to launch before October 26th. The app is done, and has been done for months already. However there are a lot of politics going on beyond my pay grade that are pushing the launch back. And just to clarify, October 26 is the earliest I would expect it. Launch could be pushed well into November.”

On Tuesday the user wrote :

“Some of you will remember my post a little while back, in which I warned that Amazon would not launch until at least October 26. We're now just about two weeks from the 26th, and the app is still on track to launch that day. In my time at this job, I have never once seen a release slip this close to a scheduled launch. I am very confident in saying that the 26th is finally the day."

Amazon and Apple have not revealed the exact release date of the app. A press release issued Sept. 19 only said the Amazon video app is “coming soon.”

The Amazon Prime Video app was also rumored to come soon, especially since Amazon began listing the Apple TV on its site again after taking it down in 2015. The online retailer had restrained from selling Apple TVs and releasing a video app to keep its Fire TV popular.

While rumors stack up, people with Prime accounts and Apple TVs are wondering when the app will finally launch so they don’t have to rely on Airplay.
