The American Music Awards slated South Korean pop music group BTS and American rapper Megan Thee Stallion to perform at the 2021 American Music Awards on Nov. 21 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The AMA had previously announced that Cardi B would serve as host. Rapper Bad Bunny and singer Olivia Rodrigo will also perform at the music award show. BTS will take the stage for the televised world premiere performance of the song "Butter."

BTS reacted to the news on Twitter; “We're so excited to be bringing you the WORLD PREMIERE performance of "#BTS_Butter" in person at the @AMAs with our friend @theestallion!”

BTS, short for Bangtan Boys, comprises members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. The AMAs nominated the group for an artist of the year award against Megan Thee Stallion and Olivia Rodrigo. They also nominated Megan Thee Stallion in three categories. Rodrigo is making her AMA debut with seven nominations. The Weeknd has six nominations, while Doja Cat and Bad Bunny both have five.

Nominees reflect billboard charts, streaming, album and song sales, and radio airplay from the time of Sept. 25, 2020, through Sept. 23, 2021.

ABC will air the award show live and Hulu will stream it the following day. The fan-voted awards show opened voting this year on TikTok, which is unusual but not surprising considering TikTok’s global reach with young audiences around the world.

The award show will be the first that Cardi B has hosted.

"When I received the invite to host the AMAs, I was so excited,“ Cardi B said in a statement. "I'm ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage! Thank you to Jesse Collins, ABC, and MRC for making this happen."

"We are immensely excited to have the dynamic Cardi B bring her infectious energy to the American Music Awards as a first-time host," AMAs executive producer Jesse Collins said. "She will excite the viewers, push the limits and deliver a show that will be remembered forever!"
