Amy Schumer has announced that she will no longer be joining Sony’s live-action “Barbie.” However, the “Snatched” star said that she is still looking forward to seeing the film on the big screen.

“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” Schumer said in a statement to Variety. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”

Sony has already released a statement confirming Schumer’s announcement, saying that they understood why the actress left the project. They also revealed that they plan on sharing casting updates soon, so fans will know who is replacing Schumer.

According to Deadline, Schumer was supposed to play a character in Barbieland, which is home to various Barbie characters. However, just like in “Splash” and “Big,” her character didn’t belong to this world. She will be kicked out because she is imperfect and did not fit the mold. Schumer’s character would then go on an adventure in the real world and learn that perfection comes from the inside. She also discovers that the key to happiness is believing in herself.

Schumer’s casting for the “Barbie” live-action wasn’t received positively by critics. In fact, the “Trainwreck” star received intense backlash, which she didn’t just ignore.

Schumer fired back at her haters by sharing a photo of herself in a black one-piece swimsuit on Instagram. She included a long caption explaining why she believed she was perfect for the role. “Very very honored to be nominated for 2 Grammys and to be considered to play an important and evolving icon. Is it fat shaming if you know you're not fat and have zero shame in your game?” she wrote.

"When I look in the mirror I know who I am. I’m a great friend, sister, daughter and girlfriend. I’m a badass comic headlining arenas all over the world and making TV and movies and writing books where I lay it all out there and I'm fearless like you can be,” she added.

Schumer explained that she was fighting for everyone who has been bullied and who felt bad about themselves. She called on them to fight for themselves, too.
