Angelina Jolie recently attended the screening of “First They Killed My Father” in Long Beach, California.

The actress, who directed the film, headed to the gathering without her kids in tow, but was accompanied by Loung Ung, whose memoir inspired the story behind the film. Jolie was spotted wearing an all-black ensemble and beige pumps, according to the Daily Mail.

Jolie’s son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 16, who served as co-executive producer for “First They Killed My Father,” wasn’t present at the screening on Friday. Jolie and her estranged husband, Brad Pitt, adopted Maddox from an orphanage in Cambodia when he was just 7-months-old.

“First They Killed My Father” was also filmed in Cambodia, and it followed the life of a 7-year-old girl forced to train as a child soldier during the Khmr Rouge regime in 1975. This is why the project became very close to the award-winning actress’ heart.

Throughout the past couple of weeks, Jolie has spending time with her children either by twos or individually. Last week, she attended the red carpet premiere of “The Breadwinner” with Shiloh, 11, and Zahara, 12, by her side. The trio made headlines with their adorable photos.

The 11-year-old biological daughter of Jolie and Pitt was seen wearing a tuxedo to the event. Several years ago, Jolie revealed that Shiloh thinks he is a boy and wants to become one. The actress said that they support whatever decision she will have when she gets older.

Days after the premiere, Jolie spent time with her son, Knox. The two went to the pet store with one of their adopted dogs. After their outing, Jolie also brought and picked up her daughter, Vivienne, from karate class.

Jolie has been doing everything she can to give her kids a normal life despite her recent divorce from Pitt. While speaking with Vanity Fair, she admitted that they are still healing. “We’re all just healing from the events that led to the filing. They’re not healing from divorce. They’re healing from some… from life, from things in life,” she said.
