Angelina Jolie may not be ready to retire from acting just yet as the actress has reportedly signed on to star in a new movie.

According to several publications, including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie, 43, will reportedly star in the upcoming thriller, "Those Who Wish Me Dead." The film will apparently be loosely based on Michael Koryta's book of the same title.

Jolie's new film will center on a 14-year-old boy who witnesses a brutal murder. This teenager is then given a false identity and hidden in a wilderness skills program for troubled youth as the murderers go on a hunt for him.

"Those Who Wish Me Dead" will be directed by Taylor Sheridan, who made his directorial debut with "Wind River." He also adapted the script. Filming for Jolie's new movie is expected to start around May, after Sheridan wraps up "Yellowstone" Season 2, which stars Kevin Costner.

If the casting news turns out to be true, this will be Jolie's first movie project after she wrapped filming for "Maleficent 2" in August last year. There is no confirmation for the release date of "Those Who Wish Me Dead" yet, so fans will likely see Jolie on the big screen next when the sequel to "Maleficent" premieres in theaters across the U.S. on May 29, 2020.

Jolie was last seen in a live-action film in 2015, when she co-starred with then-husband Brad Pitt in the drama "By the Sea." Jolie also served as director for the film.

News of her possibly signing on for a new movie may come as a surprise to some as Jolie has said several times that she is contemplating on retiring from acting. She apparently wants to focus more on the behind-the-scenes work, meaning writing and directing movies.

"I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera,” Jolie said in a 2014 interview with Du Jour magazine.

"I didn’t ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier," she continued.

Among the films Jolie has directed so far are "In The Land Of Blood And Honey" (2011), "Unbroken" (2014) and "First They Killed My Father" (2017).
