Angelina’s Jolie’s shocking revelation about her preventive double mastectomy has caused fellow celebrities to show their support for the actress.

The 37-year-old beauty lost her mother to breast cancer in 2007 at the age of 56 after a long battle. Her mother’s declining health convinced Jolie to undergo surgery due to her high breast cancer risk, as she carries a gene, BRCA1, that increases her risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.

Entertainment personality Giuliana Rancic, who also underwent a double mastectomy recently, wrote, “Angelina Jolie reveals double mastectomy. Proud of her for using her incredible platform to educate women.”

“Wow. Brave & Considerate move on Angelina Jolie’s behalf,” said artist Questlove Jenkins.

Actress Kristen Bell wrote, "An admirable op ed by Angelina Jolie."

Sheryl Crow congratulated Jolie. "I commend Angelina Jolie for her courage and thoughtfulness in sharing her story today regarding her mastectomy. So brave!"

Comedian Mindy Kaling said, "@nytopinion: Angelina Jolie on why she had a double mastectomy, and how it can save lives, a must-read for women!"

Jolie discussed her brave decision in an article titled “My Medical Choice,” which was published in the opinion section of Tuesday’s New York Times.

“I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy. But it is one I am very happy that I made,” Jolie wrote in the essay. “My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent. I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer.”
