Hollywood couple Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll have separated. A source exclusively told Us Weekly that the two stars have decided to split and cited their busy schedules as the culprit behind the separation.

“Unfortunately, they just couldn’t make the relationship work with their schedules," the source said.

The insider added that the “Parks and Recreation” actress and Kroll tried to keep the relationship alive, but their respective projects kept them apart. The source explained, “They really tried, but it just wasn’t realistic anymore. They were spending more time apart than together.”

Poehler and Kroll started dating in May 2013. A source told Us Weekly at the time that Poehler was looking for a “comedian who 'gets' her." However, the former couple were rarely seen together over the past two years. The last time the comedienne and the “Kroll Show” star were spotted together was April this year during the premiere of “Adult Beginners,” Entertainment Tonight reported.

During the Emmys weekend, the former couple was reportedly spotted on separate outings in Los Angeles. Poehler also appeared on the Emmy Awards red carpet with Brooke Posch, her Parker Kite Productions partner. Meanwhile, Kroll was seen with his “Kroll Show” co-star Jenny Slate during a pre-Emmy’s party, as can be seen in actress Chelsea Peretti’s Instagram post.

The Golden Globe winner previously gushed about Kroll in her “Yes Please” memoir, Us Weekly reported. The actress wrote that she found a boyfriend who “knows how to settle” her, and she shared how the comedian would put his hand on Poehler’s chest and tell her “boring stories.”

“On one of our first nights together, I woke up apologizing for my snoring and he pulled out two earplugs he had worn to bed so he could hear what I was saying. It was one of the most romantic gestures I have ever seen," Poehler added.

Kroll was the actress’ first relationship after her divorce. Poehler was married to actor Will Arnett for nine years, before the two separated in September 2012. Poehler and Arnett share two children together, Archie and Abel.
