Anthony Davis continues to be in the headlines, and it seems that this will be the case until some blockbuster deal is made. It could end by Feb. 7, the NBA trade deadline, or carry on until the offseason. Whatever the case may be, it has become a topic most are talking about.

After making it public that he has no plans of signing an extension and would prefer to be traded, Davis has been linked to one particular team: the Los Angeles Lakers. Seeing as how the purple and gold already has LeBron James and possibly more superstars moving forward, several personalities have aired their objection of the impending union. That includes former NBA player and current TV analyst Charles Barkley.

Speaking on "Inside the NBA" on TNT on Thursday, Barkley said that he felt Davis should not be allowed to head to the Lakers. The Round Mound is no stranger when it comes to airing his opinion, though it has at times left him in the hot seat. Nevertheless, he does make a good point, but the real question is who can intervene.

Barkley believes NBA Commissioner Adam Silver can block any trade where Davis would land with the Lakers. It somehow calls to mind the case of Chris Paul back in 2011, though there were several factors tied up to that.

On Dec. 8, 2011, the New Orleans Hornets had agreed to a three-team trade sending Paul to the Lakers. The only problem then was that NBA had control of the Hornets, thus nullifying the deal.

In the case of Davis, the scenario is different. Silver has no power over the Pelicans and the best he can do is take a close look at any deal involving "The Brow." Tampering has been mentioned or some other violation close to it, and nothing has been divulged thus far, Yahoo Sports reported.

Barkley will not be the last one to give his take on Davis and the Lakers. It remains to be seen if he will reveal his disgust if a different team enters the picture.

One can just imagine the scenario of James and Davis teaming up in Los Angeles. Better yet, critics may even howl all the more if Magic Johnson or Rob Pelinka get more superstars into the fold such as maybe Klay Thompson or even Kyrie Irving which were covered in previous reports.
