  • Arenas mode will introduce new maps specifically designed for the new game mode
  • In Arenas, players will fight in intense 3v3 matches in a race to meet the score limit
  • Players will have access to a weapons and items shop at the start of each round

The previously teased gameplay trailer for the upcoming season of “Apex Legends” has been revealed, with the new Arenas mode taking the spotlight.

Respawn Entertainment has seemingly delivered on its “Go Beyond Battle Royale” tagline in the cinematic trailer with the introduction of a new 3v3 game mode that’s focused on quick-yet-intense fights inside bespoke maps that are individually tailored for faster gameplay. However, there’s a bit more going on in this mode than just a simple squad versus squad deathmatch.

“Apex Legends” is borrowing a few ideas from other games like “Call Of Duty” and “CS: GO.” Fans of “Modern Warfare” may immediately recognize Arenas mode as something similar to Gunfight, a mode in “MW2019” that puts two pairs of players against each other in a round-based elimination game.

The premise of Arenas is simple: two squads of three will face each other in relatively small maps. The first squad to score three points wins the game. It’s in the same vein as “Titanfall’s” Coliseum and “MW’s” Gunfight but instead of arming each squad with the same loadout, players will get to buy equipment like in “CS: GO.”

Players will get to buy weapons and attachments using Materials at the start of every round. Each team will receive the same amount of Materials, but they can earn more by interacting with bins across the map. They will also get more materials based on their performance in each round. The mechanic is very similar to “CS: GO” and “Valorant’s” shops except that purchased gear does not persist between rounds.

A single care package containing three high-tier weapons serves a point of contest in each round, granting whoever claims it a significant power spike over their enemy.

Arenas mode might just be the game mode many players have been asking for. Not only is it a good change of pace from the standard battle royale mode, it can also be a great avenue for players to improve their aim and overall game sense in a faster and more contained environment.

Arenas mode launches together with Valkyrie and the rest of the new content in the upcoming “Legacy” season that’s scheduled for early May.
