On Wednesday, Apple announced the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus flagship smartphones along with other products like the Apple TV, the iPad Pro and the iPad Mini 4. During the launch, Apple refrained from revealing details like the RAM, processor speed and battery of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.

According to GSM Arena, an Apple Support employee has revealed on Reddit that the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus are equipped with 2 GB of RAM. However, exact details on the processor for the both the smartphones are unavailable. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus from 2014 came with 1 GB of RAM each.

Apple has only mentioned that the new A9 chipset is better than the A8 chipset as it churns out 70 percent better performance and 90 percent better graphics. On the official product page of the newly released iPhones, the tech specs only mentions A9 chipset without revealing processor details.

The listing of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus on GSM Arena state that the A9 chip present on both the devices feature a 64-bit dual-core processor that clocks at 2.2 GHz. Rumors have that Apple has included a tri-core processor on both the handsets.

According to Phone Arena, Apple has packed a smaller battery of 1715 mAh capacity inside the iPhone 6S. However, details on the battery of the iPhone 6S Plus is not known yet. The iPhone 6 has a larger battery of 1810 mAh capacity.

The iPhone 6S with a smaller battery can still produce endurance figures that 1810 mAh battery can produce. Moreover, the Apple A9 chipset and the iOS 9 operating system have been optimized to consume less power.

The iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus come with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays, respectively. Both the handsets are available in a new color scheme of rose gold. Apple will start taking preorders of the iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus from Sept. 12.
