Ariana Grande has put her foot down and asked her fans to stop hating on ex-fiancé Pete Davidson. The singer’s gesture comes after Davidson posted a statement on being bullied online.

“I know u already know this but i feel i need to remind my fans to please be gentler with others,” Grande wrote on Instagram Stories (via Huffington Post). “I really don’t endorse anything but forgiveness and positivity. i care deeply about pete and his health.”

Grande asked her fans to be more gentle with others, even on the internet. She also said that fans might have misinterpreted her song “Thank U, Next” as going against Davidson.

“I will always have irrevocable love for him and if you’ve gotten any other impression from my recent work, you might have missed the point,” she wrote.

On Monday, Davidson released an open letter about getting bullied online. “I’ve been getting online bullied and in public by people for 9 months,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’ve spoken about BPD [borderline personality disorder] and being suicidal publicly only in the hopes that it will help bring awareness and help kids like myself who don’t want to be on this earth.”

He also wrote that no matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make him kill himself, he won’t do it. He’s very upset that he even has to bring the topic up in the first place.

In Grande’s “Thank U, Next” song, she is heard mentioning Pete’s name without saying anything bad about him. The music video for the song also shows a photo of the couple in what appears to be Grande’s version of the burn book from “Mean Girls.” The words “I love u always,” “HUUUUGE” and “sry I dipped” are seen on the page of the book with their picture.

“Thank U, Next” was released on Nov. 3 as the lead single from Grande’s latest album. It debuted number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It became her first number one single in the U.S. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the song became certified platinum in the U.S. on Nov. 26.

Aside from “Thank U, Next,” Grande’s other hit songs are “No Tears Left to Cry,” “God Is A Woman,” “Bang Bang,” “Dangerous Woman,” “Into You” and “Almost Is Never Enough.”
