A woman in Arkansas was killed by the same man who killed her mother on the same property two decades ago. The suspect also died and his body was recovered from a nearby lake.

Deputies responded to an alarm at the home in Crittenden County on Wednesday and found the back door open. They entered the home and saw someone jumping from a window. The intruder ran to a car that was parked nearby and tried to drive away. The vehicle, however, got stuck in the yard following which he ran into a nearby lake.

In a news release, Crittenden County Sheriff Mike Allen said, “He was observed going under the water and never came back up. The Arkansas Game and Fish and Crittenden County Search and Rescue were called, and Game and Fish used their sonar equipment and Search and Rescue was able to locate and recover the body of the suspect.”

Meanwhile, the body of 63-year-old Martha McKay was found inside the home where her mother and her mother’s nephew were fatally shot 24 years ago when the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Travis Santay Lewis, tried to rob the house. Lewis was sentenced to 28 and a half years in prison and was paroled in 2018.

The bodies of McKay and the suspect were sent to the Arkansas Medical Examiner’s Office.
