  • Elizabeth Chambers has been processing her estranged husband Armie Hammer's scandal
  • Hammer's wife extends her support to victims of abuse or assault
  • Chambers said she won't be making any comments on the issue anymore

Armie Hammer's estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers broke her silence for the first time following his scandal.

Chambers took to Instagram and released a lengthy message about the issue. She admitted that she didn't have much knowledge about the whole thing.

"For weeks, I’ve been trying to process everything that has transpired. I am shocked, heartbroken, and devastated," she wrote. "Heartbreak aside, I am listening, and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters. I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know."

Chambers announced that she supports any victim of abuse or assault. She also urged those who have been suffering the same predicament to seek the help they need to heal. At the same time, she made it clear that she won't be making further comments about the issue and would focus her energy on her children. Chambers also thanked those who supported her along the way.

"At this time, I will not be commenting further on this matter. My sole focus and attention will continue to be on our children, on my work and on healing during this incredibly difficult time," she continued.

"Thank you for all of the love and support, and thank you in advance for your continued kindness, respect, and consideration for our children and me as we find ways to move forward.”

Chambers released the statement weeks after her estranged husband was caught in a controversy. The "Rebecca" star made headlines after multiple women shared unverified screenshots of messages they allegedly received from him that reflected his disturbing sexual fantasies ranging from rape to cannibalism.

The controversy involving Hammer got mixed responses from the people who know him personally. Some of his exes were convinced that the messages were likely true, but other sources couldn't believe it because he has never done any of those things with Chambers.

One of Hammer's pals said he appeared "totally normal" including his love for grilling. Some were also wondering if he was on drugs. A source defended him saying he doesn't have a drug habit.

"Of course Armie is not a cannibal … although BDSM might be weird, it’s not illegal," the source added.
