Austin Butler has revealed how he was heckled by "Elvis" director Baz Luhrmann and his team when he was portraying the singer in his biopic.

The 30-year-old actor recalled it was his first day in the recording studio, and the director had invited all the executives and people from the offices to heckle him.

"When I was on my first day in the recording studio, Baz wanted me to get as close to performing as possible," Butler told VMAN in an interview published Wednesday. "He had all the executives and everybody from RCA, who were back in the offices, he brought them into the recording studio and he goes, ‘I want you all to sit facing Austin’ … and he told them to heckle me."

Butler shared they were all making fun of him, while he was singing. This happened during the recording of the scene in which Presley first appears on the stage and everybody heckles him. The actor disclosed he went home in tears that night, but it helped him understand how heckling feels.

"When we were filming this moment when Elvis first goes on stage and he’s getting heckled by the audience, I knew what that felt like," he said. "I went home in tears that night. I really did."

However, Butler revealed he knew beforehand something like this might happen on the sets as he got a heads up from actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who had previously worked with the director on 1996's "Romeo + Juliet" and 2013's "The Great Gatsby."

"I had spoken to Leo before and he said, 'Baz is gonna push you in ways you didn’t know somebody could. He’s gonna push you off balance and keep you off balance,'" the actor recalled DiCaprio's warning.

"Elvis" was released in theaters on June 24. Actress Olivia DeJonge played Presley's wife, Priscilla in the flick, while Tom Hanks played Presley's manager named Colonel Tom Parker. The movie also featured Dacre Montgomery, Luke Bracey, YolaMaggie Gyllenhaal and Rufus Sewell.

Butler will be next seen in the highly anticipated movie, "Dune: Part Two" as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. The movie is slated to release next year. The actor will also feature in the TV series, "Masters of the Air" as Major Gale Cleven.
