Baltimore is leading the list of the highest number of sexually transmitted disease (STD) cases across the U.S. cities. Among the top 100 cities, Baltimore has 2004 STD cases per 100,000.

Recently, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its Sexually Transmitted Surveillance Report as well as new data on the number of reported cases of these diseases. Innerbody analyzed the data to come up with the list and the city that tops the tally is Baltimore, which has 207 cases of HIV, 4231 cases of Gonorrhea, 210 cases of Syphilis and 7636 cases of Chlamydia.

Jackson takes second place with 86 HIV cases, 3057 Chlamydia cases, 52 Syphilis cases, and 1330 Gonorrhea cases. And, Philadelphia with, 499 HIV cases, 7288 Gonorrhea cases, 459 Syphilis cases and a staggering 21119 Chlamydia cases, is number third.

The study revealed that cases of diseases transmitted sexually are widespread in the south. Close to half of the top 25 cities with high STD cases are in the south.

The leading state with the most cities in the top 100 list is California with seven cities. Meanwhile, Ohio and Texas are placed in the second spot with six cities each.

The top five cities with regard to the total number of STD cases are Los Angeles, CA - 92401, Chicago, IL – 58322, Houston, TX- 36710, Phoenix, AZ – 34973 and Philadelphia, PA – 28866. Interestingly, three cities in the top 10 list, namely Augusta, GA, Killeen, TX and Shreveport, LA, are military bases.
