The 2014 World Cup in Brazil is a chance for the best soccer-playing countries in the world to take pride in their teams and band together in the name of sport.

But wherever there are sport teams, there are also nicknames, and that holds true for this year's World Cup as in any other professional sporting event or league.

This year's crop of teams is a great showcase of some of the funniest team nicknames, as well as some of the greatest. Some are unofficial, some more official, but all of them are worth checking out.
