The 2015 BET Awards are just two days away, and -- trust us -- you don't want to miss it. The network is pulling out all the stops for its 14th annual award show, booking A-list hosts and performers for the evening's events. Although viewers will no doubt be tuning in to laugh along with presenters and watch their favorite artists rock the stage, it’s the awards portion of the night that will have everyone on the edge of their seats.

This year BET will be giving out 21 awards in all, in categories like “Best New International Artist,” “Best Male/Female Hip-Hop Artist,” “Video of the Year” and more. Several talented artists have been nominated in each category. Unfortunately only one can win. The annual Black Entertainment Television event celebrates African-Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment.

In addition to awards chosen by fans, BET will pay a special tribute to three legendary people in the entertainment industry. This year’s honorees include Janet Jackson, Smokey Robinson and Tom Joyner. Jackson, who recently announced her new world tour, will be receiving the “Icon Award.” The “Lifetime Achievement Award” will go to 75-year-old R&B singer-songwriter Smokey Robinson. Lastly, but certainly not least, Tom Joyner will be receiving the “Humanitarian Award” for his many philanthropic ventures through the years.
