When Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) bought WhatsApp for $19 billion, it might been the most any one tech company has paid for another yet, but it certainly isn’t the only tech acquisition to make headlines.

The Internet was abuzz with rumor and speculation when Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO) bought Tumblr for $1.1 billion earlier this year, just as news media of the day were abuzz in 1999 when Yahoo! bought Geocites for $3.6 billion and Broadcast.com for $5 billion.
