  • Blake Shelton was touched when Gwen Stefani mentioned his late brother and his dad in her wedding vow
  • The "God Gave Me You" singer admitted that Stefani's wedding vow hit him hard
  • His wife's wedding vow made him realize he was not calloused and he would never forget that feeling

Blake Shelton has opened up about how his wife Gwen Stefani's wedding vow moved him.

Shelton and Stefani tied the knot in July in his ranch in Oklahoma. Four months after they exchanged "I dos," the "God Gave Me You" crooner is still not over Stefani's wedding vow.

"She took that really hard, took it to heart and talked about it all the time," Shelton told People of how serious the "Hollaback Girl" singer was when she was preparing her wedding vow. "She was like, "Oh my God, I'm still working on it.'"

Shelton shared why Stefani's wedding vow got him emotional. Apparently, she mentioned the two most important people in his life who are no longer around. The "Don't Speak" singer's wedding vow also made Shelton realize something — that he wasn't calloused.

"The thing that got to me was she spoke about my [late] brother and my dad as if she had known them almost," Shelton explained. "She didn't make it seem that way, but it felt that way as she was speaking about them. She said she wished they were there and what kind of men she thinks they must've been. Man, it hit me. Like, I couldn't believe how hard it hit me. I felt like at this point, I've kind of gotten calloused. I guess I'm not because that absolutely slayed me. It's hard to even remember what else she even said. I'll never forget that feeling."

Shelton was as serious as Stefani when he wrote his wedding vow. He opted to write a song and sing it to her because he knew it would be the last thing she would expect from him and he wanted to surprise his bride, and it worked.

It wasn't the first time Shelton spoke about Stefani's wedding vow. He also talked about the same matter with E! News weeks after their big day. According to Shelton, their "Voice" castmate Carson Daly, who officiated their wedding, asked him and Stefani to write their own vows.

Shelton said he loved what Stefani wrote, adding it was "incredible." He admitted he got emotional while she was saying it during their wedding ceremony. However, he couldn't recall everything she said because he was overwhelmed.

"I still haven't even seen a video of our wedding yet, so I can't remember all the things she said, but she had them written down and she had a hard time getting through them. I had a hard time trying get through what she said also," he said at the time.
