Blake Shelton recently slammed the rumors that he’s getting into politics after his photo with House Speaker Paul Ryan went viral earlier this week.

On Thursday, “The Voice” coach explained to his followers on Twitter that he has never even met the Republican before. Shelton, his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, and her kids were on their way to a restaurant when they bumped into Ryan.

Shelton and Ryan posed for a photograph together, and the award-winning country singer said that he would also stop and pose with anyone who asks to take a picture with him.

A lot of critics threw shade at Shelton after seeing his picture with Ryan because they thought that he was in talks to run for office. A lot of rumors also claimed that Shelton and Ryan’s meeting took place at the singer’s Ole Red restaurant in Tishomingo.

Shelton revealed that after taking a picture with Ryan, he and his group immediately left the place because it was starting to get too cold. He stressed that no “secret meeting” took place at the very public venue. He also reiterated the fact that he doesn’t do politics.

In one of his tweets, Shelton also reminded his fans to be careful when following him on social media because there are a lot of fake accounts out there.

After clarifying things on Thursday, Shelton received support from his good friend, Alison Sweeney. The actress apologized to Shelton on behalf of all of the people who tend to instantly jump to conclusions.

Meanwhile, Shelton has been spending time with his girlfriend and her three kids since Thanksgiving last week. Prior to their celebrations, Shelton and Stefani promoted the No Doubt singer’s holiday album, which contained their duet, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” according to People.

Shelton other engagement includes judging on the 13th season of NBC’s “The Voice.” Following this week’s episode, Shelton and Jennifer Hudson are the judges with the most number of team members. Chloe Kohanski, Red Marlow and Keisha Renee are part of the top 10 together Hudson’s Davon Fleming, Noah Mac and Shi’Ann Jones.

Team Adam Levine’s Addison Agen and Adam Cunningham and Team Miley Cyrus’ Ashland Craft and Brooke Simpson are still part of the competition.

“The Voice” Season 13 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
