Veteran promoter and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has revealed what he thinks Canelo Alvarez should tell GGG amid third fight talks.

Gennady Golovkin has been very vocal about his desire to have a third fight with Mexican boxing superstar Canelo. However, Arum has a different take on the matter and wants Canelo to shut down the talked-about third match with “GGG.”

In recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Arum blatantly stated what he thinks Canelo should tell Golovkin. According to Arum, Canelo should never fight Golovkin again and tell GGG to just go away.

“If I were Canelo sitting where Canelo is, I would tell GGG to go screw himself, and never fight him, because of what GGG did with that drug thing. What he said about Canelo is unconscionable, and I really give Canelo a lot of props for telling GGG, ‘go screw yourself.’ Even if it’s a lot of money, ‘go screw yourself,'” Arum said.

Aside from the fact that Arum did not like the comments of Golovkin last year regarding Canelo’s posive drug test, the Top Rank boss apparently has one more reason why he doesn’t want the Canelo vs. GGG 3 to happen. Arum is very positive that Canelo wanted to fight his fighter Sergey Kovalev and he believes that this fight makes the most sense for the newly-stripped Canelo. Arum also wants everybody to credit Canelo for apparently agreeing to fight Kovalev despite the fact that Kovalev is two weight classes above.

“So now with Kovalev fighting next week, the hope is that Kovalev wins and comes through, and they’ll do the Canelo fight with Kovalev, which is a tremendous fight for November. Two weight classes [Canelo will be moving up]. That’s why it’s such a good fight because it’s so competitive, and you’ve got to admire Canelo’s balls for doing it,” Arum said.

Now that a lucrative fight against Canelo could come to reality, Kovalev has a tremendous amount of weight on his shoulders as most in boxing believe that he should beat Anthony Yarde.

Should Canelo vs. Kovalev materialize, the weight difference is viewed as something Canelo must deal with. However, Kovalev’s manager Egis Klimas is positive that the Mexican star will have no problems making weight.

“If you put him (Canelo) on the scale right now, I don’t think he’s less than 175. I’m more than sure he’s eating healthy and will be much stronger at 175 than he was at 160 or 168,” Klimas told Boxing Scene.
