Bobby Brown believes his song "Roni," which landed him in jail in Georgia in 1989, started his "bad-boy" image, according to Entertainment Tonight.

The R&B singer reportedly explained in the sneak peek of his two-night A&E documentary series, "Biography: Bobby Brown," that his bodyguard would often bring a girl from the crowd to join him on stage while he was singing the sensual ballad.

"This girl who raised [their] hand and the one who screamed the loudest, was the woman he was gonna choose," the "Every Little Step" singer recalled.

His former bodyguard AJ Alexander added, "We'll go out and find the baddest chick and ain't no chick said 'no.'"

This remained a routine until they took the show to Columbus, Georgia, where Brown was arrested for lewdness. The singer said he had been warned about the state's anti-lewdness law, but he paid no thought to it and proceeded to do the show like he always did.

"When we got to Columbus, Georgia, they have this law, it's called the anti-lewdness law. The last person who got arrested before I got arrested for lewdness was Elvis Presley," Brown revealed.

"You don't tell somebody they can't do something when it's a part of their show. It's always been a part of my show so I did it anyway," he added.

The clip went on to show a younger Brown gyrating with a woman in a green blouse amid cheers from the crowd.

"Picture what's going on today. The lewdness our kids have to watch on TikTok. What I did was nothing compared to what is out there right now," the former New Edition member explained.

"It was harmless, but it was the politics. The police saying it was lewd, c'mon, you're going to arrest me for this? I think the bad-boy image started right then when I went to jail for 'Roni,'" Brown said further. "But getting arrested definitely boosted album sales and concertgoers. People wanted to see what this young kid was doing and it made it better for me because the ticket sales went through the roof."

"Biography: Bobby Brown" will premiere on the A&E network on May 30 and 31.
