The body of a boy discovered on Sunday has been confirmed as a missing Oregon boy whose parents died in a murder-suicide.

Aiden Salcido had been reported missing, along with his parents Daniel Salcido and Hannah Janiak, on June 11th. The search continued for nearly two months until police discovered a body matching Salcido’s description with a gunshot wound to the head at the West Fisher Creek area of Lincoln County, Montana. It was then confirmed on Thursday to be Salcido after investigators completed a full autopsy.

Originally, Salcido’s parents had been convicted of felony burglary charges stemming from an incident in 2018. Janiak was scheduled to begin her sentence on June 11th at Jackson County Jail, but never appeared for sentencing. Relatives quickly reported them missing, prompting a search for the trio.

The parents were next seen near Kalispell, Montana, when they were pulled over by a local police officer. Everything started as a routine traffic stop, though the officer became suspicious that the pair had given him false information. A short chase ensued until police were able to stop the vehicle by spiking the wheels. However, Janiak and Salcido were dead by the time officers approached the car, though the younger Salcido was not in the car.

Authorities intensified their search for Salcido, who was last seen alive on surveillance footage at a Walmart in Medford, Oregon. Salcido was there with his parents and were seen buying camping gear.
