After conquering Hollywood’s biggest night by winning four Oscars, Bong Joon-Ho’s dark comedy “Parasite” is all set to make its way to one of the streaming giants of the U.S.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the South Korean movie will be available for streaming starting on April 8 on Hulu. Neon, the production studio that distributes the movie internationally, sold the streaming rights to the streaming giant. It is an exclusive deal, meaning “Parasite” will not be streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime or any other platform any time soon.

The movie has been creating buzz since it premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. The movie won the Palme d’Or and became the first South Korean film to do so. “Parasite” took home four Academy Awards out of its six nominations, alongside countless others -- such as two BAFTA awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Independent Spirit Award.

Not only did the film win Best International Film at the Academy Awards, but it also made award show history for being the first South Korean film to win Best Picture.

It also became the first movie in a language other than English to claim a victory in the Best Picture category . On the other hand, Joon-Ho became the first-ever filmmaker to win the awards for directing, co-writing, and co-producing the movie. He is the eighth filmmaker to win awards in all three categories on the same night.

The director and the whole cast of the movie received an amazing reception from the people of South Korea. According to Jakarta Post, the acclaimed filmmaker expressed gratitude toward everyone who supported him and praised the people for battling the deadly coronavirus.

After the monumental win at the 92nd Academy Awards, Miky Lee, one of the most influential movie moguls in South Korea and one of the executive producers of “Parasite,” revealed “Parasite” is the prime example of how Academy voters and people are ready to embrace new content.

The producer also noted that it is finally time for Asia-Americans to get recognized for their work.

The film, starring Kang-Ho Song, Park So-Dam, and Cho Yeo-Jeong in pivotal roles, has earned more than $48 million in the U.S. and $205 million globally.
