After posting a photo of a private jet on social media, users quickly discovered rapper/actor Bow Wow had taken the photo from another site. Following the mishap, the hashtag #BowWowChallenge began to spread and a number of memes were born.

Appearing on Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” show, Bow Wow discussed the memes but said people didn’t understand that there was a method to his madness, hinting that he was trolling with the photo. The actor said, “Off top, I love it, because people don’t understand the scientific method to my madness.”

He added, “Number one, I’m about to have the biggest show on WE TV period. Period. I’m saying that right now. Period… You gotta just watch the show. Everything is for the show.” When pressed to admit he posted the photo for the show, the actor once again said, “You gotta watch the show.”

Bow Wow went on to say that the memes don’t bother him because he and other rappers, such as Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg, always make fun of each other in a group chat they have.

On Wednesday, a more defensive Bow Wow took to Instagram for a live video after the memes began to spread. “You don’t live my life. Everybody like, ‘talk about the plane,’ I ain’t know that was news. That ain’t news. What is there to talk about? Ain’t nothing to talk about… It takes a second to hate, it’ll take you a lifetime to make 500K… You make $500,000, talk to me.”

Bow Wow’s original photo was posted on May 8, when he uploaded a photo of a private jet and captioned it, “Travel day. NYC press run for Growing Up Hip Hop. Lets gooo. I promise to bring yall the hottest show EVER. May 25th on @wetv.” The picture didn’t raise any suspicions until May 9 when a fan exposed Bow Wow, snapping a picture of the actor flying coach.

“So this guy Lil Bow Wow is on my flight to NY. But on Instagram he posted a picture of a private jet captioned, ‘travelling to NY today’ smh.” This led social media users to mock Bow Wow by posting photos that stretched the truth.

This is not Bow Wow’s first time getting caught up in controversy. In March, after President Donald Trump tweeted about Snoop Dogg’s “Lavender” music video, Bow Wow tweeted at Trump, telling him to shut up before he and Snoop Dogg pimped his wife Melania.

During his Hot 97 interview, Bow Wow stood by his comments, saying he didn’t think it went too far. “I never look back,” he said. “You gotta be a complete idiot if you think I really could pimp out the first lady. So, my whole thing is this, I didn’t think nothing of it, that’s why I tweeted it. If I did, I wouldn’t tweet it.”
