A game of hide-and-seek went wrong for a boy who found himself in a different country almost a week after.

The incident took place on Jan. 11 in the port city of Chittagong in Bangladesh when the 15-year-old boy snuck into a freight container and locked himself in, India Times reported.

The teen, who was only identified by his first name Fahim, was discovered in the container on Jan. 17 in Malaysia after he slept off in the empty space. The container was then loaded on a ship that traveled 2,300 km from Bangladesh to Malaysia's Port Klang.

"The boy was just believed to have entered the container, fell asleep, and found himself here," Malaysian Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail told reporters, according to local publication Bernama.

Being locked there without food or water, Fahim cried for help before a worker at the port discovered him and released him. At first, he was mistaken for a human trafficking victim but authorities later learned there was no foul play involved in it.

Malaysian Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the boy was running a fever at the time of being found and was brought under medical attention. "When the vessel arrived at Westport and the container was unloaded, authorities found the boy inside. He is the only one found inside the container. A police report has been lodged and the boy, who has a fever, was taken for a medical examination, he said, adding that authorities are in the process of expatriating him, according to LadBible.

A Reddit video showed a clearly disoriented Fahim emerging from the container at the ship's destination of Port Klang.

Fahim was lucky to have survived the ordeal as in October, police had recovered the decomposing body of a 15-year-old boy who had gotten accidentally locked into a similar container that was found on a ship headed from Chittagong to Malaysia's Penang port, India Times reported.
