The last few years had not been easy with Pitt going back and forth, settling some legal issues concerning his family, which reportedly took a toll on him. Although things are reportedly getting better for him, the remnants of his previous debacle still linger. Whilst dealing with the aftermath of that emotionally catastrophic event, Pitt has himself involved with a lawsuit filed by two homeowners against him and his Make It Right foundation.

Sometime in November last year, Pitt and other directors of the foundation had requested the court to have their names removed from the lawsuit on the grounds that they were not personally responsible for what happened. Unfortunately, Judge Rachael Johnson refused to grant this request last week, Daily Mail reported.

So here’s how this whole fiasco started.

Remember when Hurricane Katrina hit the United States? She pretty much left a lot of Americans devastated and homeless. Make It Right, Pitt’s foundation, began a project aiming to build homes in the Lower Ninth, New Orleans for a price of $150,000. Pretty cheap for a storm-safe, solar-powered and environment friendly household, right? After a year, the foundation built 100 green foundation houses.

Among the issues specified with Pitt’s foundation-built houses were rotting wood, caving in roofs, issues with plumbing, structure and electrical problems. Worst case, many houses are reportedly falling apart. There were also claims that residents are getting sick.

There were reports that Pitt shelled out $12 million dollars to have these 100 houses built. In his defense, Pitt, together with the other foundation directors claimed they weren’t personally responsible for the houses’ construction. In fact, last year, Pitt’s foundation reportedly sued the principal architect for his faulty, unreliable designs.

The complaint against Pitt’s foundation claimed that homeowners were fraudulently deprived of their right to pursue legal actions under Louisiana’s New Home Warranty Act by Make It Right. It stated further that Pitt’s charity knew about the building materials and designs but the homeowners were never informed after Pitt’s foundation arranged engineering inspection to ascertain the houses’ status. Apparently, the homeowners claimed that they were not given access to the reports.

There were also some important legal documents that Pitt’s foundation failed to explain to the homeowners; hence, their deprivation of rights claim. The homeowners are still paying mortgages and they are reportedly afraid that their homes may outlive the full payment of the same.

To sum it up, not only does Pitt face lawsuit with his housing project, he is also in the middle of dealing with an unusual family concern where his ex-wife, Jolie refuses to grant him joint custody with their children. In fact, a source told Hollywood Life that Jolie has no plans at.

Tough years, aren’t they? Will Pitt surpass these legal predicaments?
