  • BTS has been recruited by Baskin-Robbins to promote its flavor of the month in August
  • The ice cream company has reportedly finished shooting its advertisement with the South Korean boy band
  • The brand also created a product collaboration called BTS cake

Baskin-Robbins Korea has reportedly hired BTS to represent its upcoming ice cream flavor of the month.

Managed by SPC Group, the ice cream chain’s Korean branch announced on Thursday (July 2) that it has hired K-pop boy band BTS as brand ambassador to promote its flavor of the month in August, The Korea Herald reported.

Baskin-Robbins also revealed on June 30 that it has wrapped up the advertisement shoot featuring the seven-membered act marketing the new flavor of ice cream and will release the campaign next month via social media and cable TV.

“We believe August will be more special for Baskin Robbins with BTS,” an official from SPC Group said in a statement. “We have captured the charms of BTS in the advertisement to make you forget the summer heat, so do look forward to it.”

The Massachusetts-based ice cream company will also be organizing special events to commemorate its collaboration with the South Korean boy band. A BTS cake, a Baskin-Robbins and BTS collaborated product, will be available for pre-order with the purchase of a projection light starting mid-July.

Meanwhile, BTS recently released its latest Japanese single, titled “Stay Gold.” The track is part of the Korean septet’s upcoming Japanese-language album, “Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~.”

Per Forbes, BTS’ latest single comes just as the band hit record-breaking sales and made chart history in Japan, the second-largest music industry in the world behind the U.S.

The South Korean boy band topped overall album sales rankings for the first half of 2020, according to Japanese music chart Oricon, which revealed its mid-year sales statistics on June 19.

Oricon confirmed that this marks the first time in 36 years that a foreign music artist has topped its albums chart for the first half of the year. The last artist to rack up the impressive accomplishment was the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, with his mega-selling “Thriller” album in 1984.

BTS’ “Map of the Soul 7 ~ The Journey~” album will be released in Japan and digitally across the globe on July 14. A CD version will also be available in the U.S. on Aug. 7.
