BTS member Jungkook may not perform at the upcoming Grammy Awards after testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The 24-year-old K-pop star was traveling to Las Vegas on Sunday for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, which will take place on April 3. He tested negative in South Korea but tested positive soon after he landed in the U.S., according to a statement from the bands management BigHit Music.

"While being under self-quarantine as a proactive measure, the result of both tests came back positive, and Jung Kook was confirmed with COVID-19 on Monday, March 28," the statement said.

"Jung Kook has been currently under self-quarantine ad treatment, following the guidelines of the health authorities in the United States. He is not exhibiting any symptoms other than a mild sore throat, and we will attentively monitor his health during the quarantine," the statement said.

BigHit Music said that Jungkook took a rapid molecular PCR test and a standard quantitative PCR test when he landed in Las Vegas due to feeling “a slight discomfort in his throat.”

BigHit Music added that the company is "actively in discussion with the awards organizer" over Jungkook's participation in BTS' performance. But that it “will also continue to fully cooperate with the requests and guidelines of healthcare authorities.”

BTS debuted in 2013. The popular boy band has seven members.
