Sam Heughan is celebrating his birthday, and his friends and colleagues from the “Outlander” sent their well-wishes for him on social media. Caitriona Balfe shared a funny picture of her co-star, while Steven Cree joked about his friend’s age.

Heughan celebrated his 39th birthday on April 30. Balfe, who plays the role of his on-screen wife Claire in the “Outlander” series, wished him a happy birthday on Instagram and shared a funny photo of the actor as well.

“To the man who can smize for miles,” Balfe wrote in her post. She wished this year to be the best for her co-star and added that he gets to eat lots of cake.

“Hehe love you!!!” Heughan replied to Balfe’s birthday wish.

The snap that Balfe shared also features Heughan seemingly showing his middle finger to the camera. And this did not go unnoticed among the fans. “Are you flipping us off Sam?” one fan jokingly asked, commenting on the picture.

Although the two actors play the roles of lovers and a married couple in the “Outlander” TV series, and the fans wish for them to be together in real life; they are not dating each other.

Meanwhile, Heughan’s co-star, Cree, also greeted the actor on his birthday. In a post on Twitter, Cree joked about Heughan being 47 years old. The two actors generally poke fun at each other online, keeping the fans entertained during Droughtlander.

“I know it’s not necessarily a special one but all your birthdays are special to me,” Cree wrote in his birthday message. “The right hand side of your face just gets better with age, like a fine wine one may say. Or a prune.”

The official Twitter page of the “Outlander” also posted a birthday message for Heughan. The post celebrated the actor for bringing Jamie Fraser, a character from Diana Gabaldon’s books, to life on screen.
