Camilla Could’ve Skipped Royal Engagement To Attend Princess Eugenie’s Wedding But Didn’t

Camilla Parker Bowles skipped Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding on Oct. 12, 2018 due to a prior engagement.

But it has been revealed that the Duchess of Cornwall could’ve skipped her engagement to attend Princess Eugenie’s nuptials. However, she decided to still push through with it.

In an article he penned for Daily Mail, royal expert Richard Kay said that Prince Charles’ wife wrote a letter of apology to Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank for not being able to make it to their royal wedding.

“I can disclose that Camilla sent a handwritten letter to Eugenie apologizing for being unable to attend. She is fond of Eugenie and her sister Beatrice, and is very disappointed that she cannot be there,” Kay said.

A source told the royal expert that they are used to seeing members of the British clan out and about, who drop out of their royal engagements at any given time. “I don’t think anyone would have been too startled if the engagement was canceled because of the wedding,” the insider said.

But last year, another source told The Telegraph that there was another reason for Camilla’s absence. The source said that the Duchess of Cornwall threw a house party for her friends, who stayed at her home until the weekend.

“The date of the wedding was known eight months ago so it’s strange Camilla organized her house party this weekend. It’s hard to see her turning down the invitation as anything other than a snub but she insists she has other engagements that she was invited to first,” the source said.

However, these claims were not confirmed or denied by the palace of Camilla. Next year, Princess Eugenie’s older sister, Princess Beatrice, is scheduled to tie the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. It is likely that Camilla will attend her royal wedding alongside Prince Charles and the other members of the royal family.
