Camilla Parker Bowles reportedly couldn't get out of her bed on of her wedding day with Prince Charles.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall’s romance wasn’t accepted by the public at first. It took years before the people warmed up to them, because the sympathy of the majority was with Princess Diana who said that “there were three of us in this marriage,” implying about them having an affair.

However, in 2005, Prince Charles and Camilla eventually got married. But on their special day, the bride had a hard time getting out of her bed.

“On the day itself it took four people coax Camilla out of bed,” royal expert Penny Junor wrote for Vanity Fair in 2018.

“She still wasn’t feeling well, but now it was nerves more than sinusitis that kept her under the covers. She was terrified.”

Camilla reportedly spent Friday night at Clarence House with her sister Annabel and daughter Laura. She wasn’t feeling well due to sinusitis, but on her wedding day, it was more due to her nerves.

Camilla’s dresser, Jacqui Meakin, Annabel, Laura and the housemaid named Joy couldn’t persuade her. It came to a point when Camilla’s sister offered to wear her wedding gown to represent her.

“Finally her sister said, ‘OK, that’s all right. I’m going to do it for you. I’m going to get into your clothes.’ Only at that point did the bride-to-be get up,” Junor added.

Camilla spent an evening with her friends before her wedding day. Lucia Santa Cruz, who introduced Camilla to Prince Charles years ago, came over and observed the same thing about the duchess’ health because Camilla had been under the weather for days at the time.

“She literally couldn’t get out of bed,” Santa Cruz said.

She came over to administer homemade chicken soup to Camilla because in Chile, “everything is cured by chicken soup.” She had the duchess eat it, but she was really concerned with Camilla’s condition and feared that she couldn’t make it to her own wedding because “she was really ill, stressed.”

Fortunately, Camilla was able to make it. On April 9, the future king and queen will be celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary. Last year, the royal couple shared a never-before-seen picture of them to commemorate their 14th wedding anniversary.
