Prince Harry is “highly unlikely” to become king.

Prince Charles and Prince William are sure to take over the throne in due time. Many are wondering if Princess Diana’s second son has a chance to reign. One netizen asked this on Quora and many believe that Prince Harry has a chance, but it’s very unlikely that he would be king because he is way down the line of succession.

As of late, Prince Charles is the heir while Prince William is second in line to the throne. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis rank third, fourth and fifth in the line of succession leaving Prince Harry in the sixth spot.

“It’s just the way that the British Line of Succession works. Any younger children of the monarch have very little chance of ever becoming monarch as their eldest sibling’s children will always take precedence,” Dave Cross, a republican, commented.

Pearl McElheran, M.A. Literature & History, agreed that Prince Harry could be king but it is “highly unlikely.” If the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will have more children, Meghan Markle’s husband will move further back in the line of succession after them.

Just like Pearl, Todd Batholomew believes that it is highly unlikely for Prince Harry to become king. He added that for Prince Harry to become king “something awful” would have to happen to everyone ahead of him on the line of succession.

Harry Kriewaldt agreed and said that it would require a “dramatic (and catastrophic) series of events.” Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles have to die for Prince William to be king. After that, all of the Duke of Cambridge’s children would need to die for Prince Harry to be the heir.

Aside from death, if everyone ahead of Prince Harry in the line of succession chooses to abdicate, he could be king. However, this incident is also unlikely to happen.

In related news, Prince Charles’ photo during Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation was revisited and many found it funny because the little Prince of Wales looked bored. In the snap, he was cupping his face as he waited for the ceremony to be over. Netizens commented on the snap and said that Prince Charles is still waiting for his turn and it will be a long wait.
