The royal family has been warned about Meghan Markle’s growing popularity.

The Duchess of Sussex has become a “more powerful” member of the royal family after giving birth to her and Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. For this reason, royal historian Anna Whitelock, warned the members of the Firm about Markle’s popularity because she now “holds the cards” in her relationship with the Duke of Sussex.

Whitelock said on Yahoo’s “The Royal Box” that Markle is the “media darling royal.” The new mom has become “incredibly powerful” and the royal family should take due hold of that.

Royal author Katie Nicholl has the same opinion about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. According to her, they are becoming more and more popular and are at risk of eclipsing the other members of the Firm.

“I think it's fair to say that Meghan and Harry have really occupied the spotlight,” Nicholl said on the same show.

“I think there is a risk that they could eclipse other members of the royal family. We are already seeing more column inches dedicated to Meghan and Harry than we are to the Cambridges and certainly to the Prince of Wales.”

Nicholl added that when Princess Diana eclipsed Prince Charles there was a “negative knock on effect to the monarchy.”

When Princess Diana was still alive, she was more popular than her husband. In fact, according to Sarah Bradford in her book “Diana,” Princess Diana’s growing popularity caused tension between her and Prince Charles.

Prince Charles is not as popular as his two sons as well for a number of reasons. According to some netizens, this could be due to his looks and age. The younger royals like Prince William, Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle tend to get more attention from the media.

Meanwhile, others feel that Prince Charles’ infidelity was the reason he was not as popular as the other members of the royal family. A number of Brits sympathized with Princess Diana when she said in her infamous “Panorama” interview that “there were three of us in this marriage, so it’s a bit crowded,” implying about Prince Charles and Camilla’s affair.
