  • Canelo Alvarez is set to fight again in September and he could face Gennadiy Golovkin
  • Golovkin is no stranger to Alvarez as the two had face each other twice in the past
  • Alvarez wants redemption after losing his light heavyweight title bid earlier this May

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez seems to be moving on from his heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title.

The 31-year-old pugilist has returned to the gym and it appears he plans to fight anew on September 17.

According to his promoter Eddie Hearn, an official announcement is expected to be made next week, USA Today reported.

As far as who he will face, it appears that Alvarez will be facing an old foe in Gennadiy Golovkin.

"Surely, yes, [it will be against Golovkin]. We already had that fight. We have to continue what we started and I think they are the two most important fights in boxing [the third against Golovkin and the rematch with Bivol]," Alvarez said at a press conference as quoted by Marca.

Considered one of the best fighters in boxing to date, Alvarez will be looking to redeem himself from the loss to Bivol.

"Nobody likes to lose, personally I am a very competitive person who risks to have greatness. I feel proud. As men, you have to recognize when you lose, but we are going to do it again," Alvarez stressed.

However, it is yet to be confirmed if Golovkin--WBA and IBF middleweight champion--will move up in weight to face Alvarez for all of the belts at super middleweight.

Both men faced twice already, with the first bout ending in a draw in September 2017 and Alvarez coming out on top via majority decision a year later.

“I think a 'GGG' fight is much bigger now than it was pre-Bivol because everyone just thought [Alvarez] was unbeatable. It’s a great fight. I’d love to do one more,” Hearn stated.
