Cardi B dropped her first music video of 2021, titled "Up," on Thursday. The video begins with the rapper standing near a gravestone that reads "RIP 2020."

The 28-year-old rapper's last chartbuster hit was

"WAP," which was released in the year 2020, and featured Megan Thee Stallion. The song had made headlines for many reasons including the use of wild animals.

The latest music track "Up" was teased Monday through Cardi's Instagram, and released Thursday night as promised. In this Sean Bankhead choreographed video, the rapper, who appears to be standing on top of a grave, is stepping on a man's body, which is covered in something white.

The song starts as the rapper changes the black costume to a white one for celebrating 2021. In an interview for Apple Music, Cardi B opened up about the sensual themes she often chooses to design her music videos.

Cardi B reflected on her first mixtape, which was influenced by the Chicago drill. She admitted she was young at that time and liked those themes. Moreover, the rapper revealed she has recorded around 50 songs, and was planning to release an album in 2021.

However, the songstress said she was not satisfied with her work, but was willing to release the album as she doesn’t have a choice. She explained that she has exceeded her "limit of holding" and needs to stop fearing.

The rapper noted that her previous music video was "very sexual" and this time she wanted to keep it different. She explained that if one of her songs talks about money, then another one should talk about something else.

Besides the interview, the "Bartier Cardi" star went live on the YouTube channel to discuss the music video before the release. She disclosed the rehearsals began in December, and it took her more than a month to complete this music video with the help of the content director, Tanu Muino. However, she noted that her "grind don't [sic] stop."

“Wanted a more hood song. I thought that my last song was more sexy [sic]…I wanted to do something more gangster, more cocky [sic],” she added during the YouTube live.

The rapper is currently occupied with her new series "Cardi Tries" in which she tries various activities such as basketball, car racing stunts, ballet, etc.
