“Tiger King” put Carole Baskin into the spotlight, and now the success of the docuseries has led to an Emmy winner playing her in a scripted “Joe Exotic” series. The big cat lover just hopes that star and executive producer Kate McKinnon gets her advice first.

“[Kate McKinnon] has not reached out to me and I really hope that she does before she gets too far down the line with it," Baskin says on the next episode of “The Pet Show” podcast, EW reports. “I’d love to know what her take is on it and what she’s thinking to do and see if there was any way we could advise her.”

McKinnon’s “Joe Exotic” show has been ordered straight to series and will air on NBC, USA Network and streaming platform Peacock. It’s based on the Wondery podcast (which is still ongoing) and will be penned by “Shameless” writer Etan Frankel.

Baskin even noted that she and her team have tried to make it clear publicly that she is open to chatting about the limited series.

“We reached out to her through the media — because I don’t have any way of contacting Kate McKinnon — but we had posted publicly that we really hope that her or anybody that does any kind of follow-up programming doesn’t end up doing what Cardi B did and hiring people that are exploiting and abusing cats. It’s like the worst thing you can do is abuse cats to show other people that you shouldn’t abuse cats.”

Cardi B used big cats in the “WAP” music video, and Baskin believes cats shouldn’t be used as props in that way.

“They probably dealt with one of the big cat pimps, probably even one of the ones shown in ‘Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness,’ who make a living from beating, shocking and starving cats to make them stand on cue in front of a green screen in a studio. That's never good for the cat,” Baskin told Entertainment Weekly earlier this month.
