Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's mothers have a different approach when it comes to supporting their royal daughters.

On Thursday, the Duchess of Sussex hosted her first event and her mom, Doria Ragland, was reportedly present to support her. Ragland was seen at the LAX airport over the weekend. There were photographs of her in a casual shirt and pants while one staff helped her with her luggage.

It was believed that she was headed to London for the launch of Markle's first solo charity project. Royals fans were right as she was indeed seen at the event with son-in-law Prince Harry. Both were there to support Markle.

Ragland greeted the guests with words: "Hi, I'm Meg’s mom." She admitted that she was "very proud" of her daughter and was "head over heels" with Markle's work.

According to Laura Hills, OK!s royal expert, Ragland's attendance at Markle's cookbook launch only showed how special the event was to her daughter. She explained that it's unusual for extended family members to join royal engagements.

"It's certainly not common place for extended members of family to be present at official royal engagements, but with Meghan's mother based in the States it is likely that special allowances were made so that they could continue to spend quality time together in the UK," Hills said.

"This was the first official royal engagement Meghan has hosted on her own and the first public speech she has delivered since becoming a member of the royal family so it would be understandable that she would want her mother by her side on such an important day," the expert added.

On the other hand, Carole Middleton has usually stayed mostly behind the scenes, People reported. According to the publication, it's common to see Middleton's mom in major events like her grandson Prince Louis' christening. Carole was also present during Prince Harry and Markle's royal wedding. However, she has never joined her daughter and son-in-law Prince William on official business.

Although Carole hasn't joined any royal engagements, this doesn't mean that she hasn't been embraced by the members of the Firm. In fact, back in 2016, she was seen behind the wheel of a Range Rover with the Queen.
