Boston Celtics announced the signing of Tacko Fall on Thursday along with three other players – Tremont Waters, Max Strus and Javonte Green – but the Senegal-born player is not yet guaranteed a place in the main roster. He will be part of the squad when training camp begins with the franchise yet to decide on the future course for the 7’6” center.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge heaped praise on Fall after his impressive showing during the summer league and made it clear that the team was very interested in the big center’s development. They initially signed Fall on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract but his summer league heroics saw them begin negotiations on a more permanent deal.

The 23-year-old, who played four seasons for the University of Central Florida, went undrafted during the 2019 NBA Draft but became an instant sensation with his performances in the summer league. He averaged 7.2 points, 4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game and his agility despite being a large athlete was something that caught everybody’s attention.

The Celtics do have one open roster spot but it is unclear if Fall will start the season as an NBA player. The big center, however, is determined to do his best before the season starts to take his place on the main roster.

“Excited to be part of the Celtics' organization. It's the beginning of seeing my dream come true. There is still lots of work to be done to secure a spot on the active roster by the time the season starts. Gonna stay humble but I'm hungry and determined!” Fall wrote on his official Twitter page.

The other three players the Celtics signed also impressed during the summer league. Waters and Strus have been signed on two-way contracts while Green has also signed a new deal with the Boston franchise.
