  • Timo Werner is frustrated that he failed to convert a single goal in Chelsea's recent outing

  • Werner prefers to focus on making normal goals for now

A lot has changed for Chelsea, most notably the change in the club's manager.

Frank Lampard is no longer around, and Thomas Tuchel is now tasked to turn things around. So far, he has been doing a good job and remains undefeated. Things can only get better if he figures a way to bring out the best in other players.

One booter that comes to mind is Timo Werner. Since November, the German has been struggling to find the back of the net, Sky Sports reported.

"I am happy when we win and with two assists, but as a striker, you want to score. It has been a long time and I have not had this long without in my career. The goals will come,” Werner rued.

Regardless of his struggles, the 24-year-old is full of praise for Tuchel who has been so far perfect. He seems aware that his fellow German could hold the key for him to figure out his scoring drought.

"Every manager is different, he gives us a lot of ideas and now I play on the left and can play behind the striker or as a 10,” he stated. “That is very good for me and the last wins were also a good move from the manager."

In the 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Sunday, critics weighed in on whether Werner should have been granted the penalty.

Werner was admittedly shocked that it was not given right away--with officials needing to look at the VAR first. But the German elects to move on from it.

"In the future, maybe I can take a penalty, but at this moment, I need to score some normal goals before taking a penalty,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Tuchel is confident that Werner will eventually regain his scoring prowess. The coach stressed that he has seen signs of progress from the German striker.

“It was a brilliant run for the first goal and it was good decision-making in the second to go around the goalkeeper and he got us the decisive penalty again, as he did at Tottenham,” Tuchel stated. “This is important because if he continues like this I am sure the goals will come.”
